State Issues Mask Challenge; We Ask You Consider Donating to our Schools, Too

Do you sew? Are you ready for a challenge?

Washington state’s lieutenant governor Cyrus Habib has announced a mask-making challenge.

Go to the Washington Mask Challenge website at https://www.ltgov.wa.gov/mask-challenge for instructions on how to make the masks and how to donate them.

They are asking for 10 at a time, so you would have to be willing to commit to making at least 10.  We know many of you out there are already making masks, so good job and happy sewing!

For NBSD schools, School Nurse Libby Meador is also asking that for every ten you make to donate to a hospital or other organization in need, consider making one for your school in preparation for our return to on-site operations in the fall.

A reminder from Ms. Meador, masks are a helpful added measure but we shouldn’t let them give us a false sense of security.  The best way to slow the spread of COVID-19 is by following social-distancing guidelines and washing your hands. Wearing a mask can also help you to remember to keep your hands off of your face, too!

If you have masks you would like to donate to our schools, please contact our school nurse at lmeador@northbeachschools.org
